How Do You Know Your Package Got There?

By:

Sending a package by courier is the easiest way to obtain a quick and guaranteed delivery with a verification of receipt by the receiving party. One of the questions that come to mind when choosing the delivery service is whether a local courier service is the best option, or a national or international delivery service. Another issue for the shipper is the time needed for the delivery to occur. What time frame does one need for the designated delivery? Is it a package that can be delivered in ten days, or ten weeks, or maybe ten hours? Is this a package that is a birthday gift for next month, or a contract with a needed signature to be closed on tomorrow?

The nature of the contents and the timeliness of the delivery help determine the choice of the designated courier. If there is a package going to a metropolitan city, such as Chicago, then the preferred shipper would be a Chicago courier service, as they would know the small streets and odd twists and turns of the Chicago streets. A larger international delivery service might be most familiar with the business sections of the city, as opposed to the suburbs and the rural areas.

If the package needs to have an overnight signature, and one was located within the Chicago area, it would be better to use a Chicago courier service for expediency. The local courier service would offer not just same day service, but also service within a designated number of hours. They might even offer a delivery service within an hour of pickup, which is used by numerous attorneys and legal contractors to obtain crucial signatures.

All respectable and responsible delivery services offer a signature verification process. When ordering the pickup of the package or contract, ask specifically to have a delivery receipt signed and then request the delivery receipt be returned to the sender as quickly as possible. In this manner, both the sender of the package and the recipient of the goods are both protected against a missed delivery or a lost package. Receiving the signed delivery verification insures that all parties have shipped and received the allotted merchandise on the timed schedule they have requested. All parties involved are protected by this agreement, the shipper of the merchandise or contract, the recipient of the goods or services, and the courier service who has conducted the transaction.
