How Do You Know When Your Boiler Needs Repair?

By:

At some point, more often than not, it is to be expected that you will be in need of some sort of boiler repair work regardless of whether you own a new or older boiler. Some common signals that your boiler is having problems are, the boiler producing little or no heat which can indicate a water blockage, any water leakage, small leaks can disappear rapidly but can still turn into much larger leaks, noisy pipes, and even a boiler failure.

Checking the pressure readings on your boilers pressure gauge can help you become aware of any loss of pressure caused by water leaks and can help point out if you need a boiler repair; a normal reading should be between about one and one point five, a low or high reading is a very good indication that there is a problem in your boiler or your boiler system. Its only when the water pressure stays steady that your boiler can work at its best possible level.

Trying to do any boiler repair work yourself and without the right training can be very unsafe and is not at all recommended. Always hire a well trained boiler maintenance person, good boiler maintenance will lead to less temporarily interruptions or failures. The complete absence of annual boiler service can result in more harsh conditions or stress being put on the boiler, increasing the possibility of your boiler developing more widespread problems overtime other than the normal wear and tear on the boiler system, the consequences being a loss of hot water and heating.

Every boiler should have a entire system flush once a year, to keep up its effectiveness and long life capabilities. More energy efficient boilers in particular need to be serviced yearly, including PH testing, to help put a stop to any oxidation.

Although there is no planning and no expectation of the repairs that may be needed to put off a system breakdown, it is only when the equipment actually fails that the boiler maintenance operators can properly assess the reason for the breakdown and then can make any and all needed repairs. Just remember, poor heating function, water leakage, noise, and abnormal pressure readings can all be signs that your boiler is in need of immediate repair.

Only annual boiler maintenance is necessary to make sure that your boiler stays in good repair, and any concerns can be tackled, and solved before they have a chance to worsen.
