How Do You Keep Motivated While Starting Your Business?

You have worked hard at creating your business. You have your company name, tagline, logo, colours, fonts, and now marketing materials. You have built your website, started a blog, and joined the different social media platforms. You know your target market and where they hang out. You have done everything that people have said to do and still you have no clients.

When this happens, how do you keep motivated while starting your business? Here are the things that I use to keep remembering my purpose.

Why you started the business. Most of us start our businesses because we love what we do and want to do it on our terms, while providing great support to clients.
Working the hours you want. Owning your own business will allow us the time to do the things we want to do with our family, friends and ourselves.
Always learning. The opportunity to always be learning is a great motivator for most of us. This is one of the reasons why we want to have our own business.
Creativity. Only our imaginations limit us to what we can create while owning our own business

It is very easy for procrastination and doubt to creep into your thoughts when you are working so hard and nothing seems to be happening. When this happens you have to pull up your boot straps remember the above and your own reasons for your business and get going.

You can do many things to help you stay motivated. Besides family and friends, associations in your field are usually a great source of information and support. Working with a coach can bring spectacular results. Participate in webinars and teleseminars that help with marketing ideas and support. Write articles and blogs and really actively participate in the social media platforms. I have recently been quite active on these and have started to meet different people from around the world. That in itself is fantastic.


Always remember that you are great at what you do, your clients are going to benefit tremendously by the support you offer, and the passion you have for what you do. It will help to refocus your efforts in times of wondering if what you are doing is going to work.
