If you have plans to come to the United Kingdom to work, volunteer, or pursue your creative talents, you are in for quite an experience! The United Kingdom is filled with incredible opportunities, from professional sports associations like Manchester United to performing in the London Symphony Orchestra, and so much more. If you are planning to live and work in the United Kingdom for a temporary period of time and are between the ages of 18 and 30, you will need to apply for a UK Tier 5 Visa.

A UK Tier 5 Visa can be a bit tricky to get, though, and the fact is that the visa is not suitable for everyone. You do have to get various sponsorships forms together, complete an application, and submit these items along with an acceptable photo and the fee to the application processing center. If you live in certain countries, such as Canada, you must apply for your visa online. For other countries, there are approved application processing centers that you must visit to get your visa. You should, however, have the appropriate forms, fees, and photos on hand before you apply. All applications should be accompanied by a sponsorship letter from your government as well as a sponsorship letter from the work or volunteer organization that you will be working with while in the UK.

You should also know that with a UK Tier 5 Visa, you must have your fingerprint scanned before entering the country and even before you can get your application approved. If you apply online, you will need visit an approved scanning location in your home country to complete your application. This must all be completed before you apply and is submitted with your application.

As you can see, there is a little bit of a process required to fully apply for the UK Tier 5 Visa. For this reason, you should make an effort to apply approximately three months out from your travel dates to allow ample time for application processing yet not to take away from the 12 to 24 months that your visa is valid for. It is best to not set specific travel dates until you have your visa approved, but because your time in the country will be limited, you will want to be ready and available to leave right away so that you don't waste any of the time you have to enjoy the UK.
