Smoking cigarettes is one of the least talked about factors of pollution in society today. There are millions of smokers in the United States alone, not to mention the millions more around the globe, who are smokers. The smoke from the cigarettes is unmeasured thus far, but it is known that each year in the United States alone there are literally trillions of cigarette butts dropped on the ground. So not only is smoking bad for your health, it is bad for the environment. You are probably a smoker, but at the same time you are concerned about the environment, but do not know how to reconcile these two aspects of your personality. Well, with the electronic cigarette, this should no longer be a problem.

If you are not familiar with the electronic cigarette, here is some info that should be beneficial to you. The electronic cigarette is a device that allows a smoker to get their nicotine fix, but here is twist: the smoker at no point uses tobacco. Instead of using nasty tobacco that tobacco companies have added all sorts of nasty chemical additives to, such as tar, the smoker is taking in a liquid vapor called e-liquid.

E-liquid is largely composed of nicotine and water, with a few other things, and since it does not have all of the chemical additives in regular cigarettes, the smoker does little to no damage to the environment. So, in other words, the smoker is smoking without the actual smoke. You do not have to light up or fool around ash trays. The e-liquid comes in refillable cartridges, so you no longer have to worry about throwing cigarette butts away. So because of the e-liquid, you are already taking away two of the major pollutants right there. But there is more.

The e-liquid comes in refillable cartridges, which means that once you finish using one, you do not have to throw it away. Instead you can refill it and use it again, which is the key principle of recycling. You can even recycle the electronic cigarette itself once you decide that you no longer wish to be a smoker. And on a lighter note, you also no longer have to worry about introducing harmful fumes into the air with cigarette lighters. So it is a win win situation for yourself as well as the environment. You can still smoke, while still being able to go green.
