How Do Computers Work

We are all aware of the word computer. Ever since the birth of computer it has change the way things move now. It is the technology/device which has achieved very much success in just a short period of time. But before we further talk about how the computer works we have to first see nature of computers first. Computers were basically developed to solve calculation problems and to store large amounts of data, but over the years it has advanced on a very large scale. Now coming back to how the computer works.
The computer does its primary work in a part of the machine we cannot see and this part of it is called Central Processing Unit CPU. The CPU is also known as the brain of computer which handles everything performed on the computer. All computers large and small have a central processing unit and without which a computer cannot be operated. The computers have two types of storages, the first is primary storage and the second is secondary storage. The CPU interacts with primary storage or the main memory. After this there are a few components of the central processing unit. One of the components is called the Control Unit which does not execute program instructions, rather it directs other parts of the system. The other component is called the Arithmetic and logic unit which executes all arithmetical and logical operations. It can perform operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Now lets come to the second most important work of the computer and the reason of its development, its memory and storage. It would not be wrong if computer technology is also called a storage device as it was developed for this purpose. Memory is the part of the computer that stores data and instructions for processing. But most types of memory are only being stored till the computer is switched on and the whole data is lost once the computer is switched off. So these are some of the basics things which a computer performs. But with time everyone has moved on and now we humans dont even realize these petty things and do not take any interest in them as long as our computer is working perfectly. In other words, the computer hardware is the physical computer that we see which includes the computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner etc, CPU, motherboard, RAM and more. The software on the other hand are the things which we normally cannot see, it is actually a name which is given to programs that are installed on our computer such as windows, power point, and many more. The whole computer revolves around these two hardware and software, and from here there are many things which are attached to these hardware and software. So in short in order to operate a computer we need both hardware and software so that it works correctly. It is amazing how a device which was designed for small things turned into a fully grown technology.
