Whether you want to do this for the money or simply enjoy taking lots of photos and want some benefits out of it, selling your photos online is a smart and easy thing to do.

Making money out of digital photography may not seem plausible for some people, but there are amateur photographers making a comfortable living out of this. And I am proud to say I am one of them!

I am not saying you need to get seriously involved in this to make money. When I first started, I only took a few pictures a day, as I was anxious I had a new camera. But after selling a few photos on specialized websites, I started to realize that potential lies beneath the surface.

The most critical stage in my road to economical freedom was a trip to Thailand, a couple of years ago. During the trip, I took about 4000 photos of the places I found interesting and decided to upload them all to specialized websites. I was expecting to make some nice cash, maybe to pay for half of the price of the trip, but the results really took me by surprise!

During the next two months, I made a total profit of a little more than $10,000, which means about $2.5 for a picture.

Ask yourself how many photos you could take during a single hour. Thirty? Fifty? If you spent one hour every weekend taking photos and then sold them at a price of $2.5 for each, that would equal a projected profit of about $500 per month. If you think you have the discipline to reserve an hour every day for this job, you could easily get yourself a $2000 salary every month.

But enough math.

Who would be willing to buy your photos? After all, you are not a professional. Well, the answer may surprise you! There are lots of people looking for photos taken by amateurs, simply because professionals may be way too expensive.

The main stream of my income comes from specialized websites. These act as the middle man between you and your buyers. After you take some photos, you simply upload them to such websites and wait.

You could also use forums or auction websites, like eBay, but the prices may vary from place to place.

The best thing about this "job" is that everyone who likes photography can do it, even with no previous experience. I know that's how I started.
