How Can You Get Quick Heel Pain Relief?

By:

The feet are often very neglected and most forget how important they are. If you have found yourself suffering from pain in the heel area, you know and understand that it can turn into a very serious problem and could prevent your own mobility. The first thing you should do is to consult your doctor to find out what is causing the problem. But, if you need to heel pain relief quickly, consider the following advice:

The most effective method for heel pain relief is to get off them for awhile. You need to put them up and let them rest. Even if you are at work and find it impossible to do this, just a few minutes can help you get rid of some of the pain. At the very least, try changing how you walk for a bit and try not to let any pressure hit that heel area.

You can also put on another pair of shoes. Sometimes, the shoe is simply not the right fit for your foot and it can make the pain even worse for you. What you will want to find is a pair of shoes that provide a lot of support. At the very least, consider buying inserts for your shoes, as this, too, can give your feet the support they need.

Many people find that using a cold compress on their feet help them through the pain. A great idea is to use an empty soda bottle. Fill this bottle up with water and put it in your freezer. When the water is frozen, you can then lie it on the floor and roll it back and forth with the bottom of your foot. Again, do not put any pressure on the feet while you do this and you should notice a big difference in the level of pain.

When the cold is not working to ease your pain, you may also want to try using heat. Just soaking the foot in a tub of warm water can make a difference. Even better, you could combine hot and cold by taking turns soaking the foot in warm water and then using the frozen bottle afterwards.

Your doctor may also recommend that you take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication to help ease this pain. Always be careful with your dosage and combine this with some of the above methods to treat the pain.

To get some heel pain relief and fix the problem once and for all, make sure you see a podiatrist. As they specialize in feet, you can be sure they can determine what is causing the pain and can recommend a treatment for you. While putting your feet up may take it away for awhile, you can be almost sure that it will come back and a doctor will fix the issue once and for all.
