Getting epic gems in patch 4.3 is going to be a different way we got epic gems in Wrath Of The Lich King. In WotLK, epic gems were mostly prospected from titanium ore. They were also drops from Dalaran fishing quests, which was Blizzs way of encouraging players to complete those boring fishing dailies.
Geodes that are being added in patch 4.3 will be the source for epic gems, containers which players get when defeating a boss in the Deathwing raid.. These drop from the new Deathwing raid - Dragon Soul.
Crystalline Geode has a chance at dropping an epic gem, its not guaranteed though.
Elementium-Coated Geode only drops primary stat (red, purple, orange) epic gems and will always give you an epic gem.
Perfect Geode always drops an epic gem but it can be any of the six colors.

Fire Prism Chance to contain gems
Vendor Exchange some form of points/currency for gems
Pyrite Prospecting for epic gems might be added in a later patch, but doubtful
Where to Get Epic Gem Recipes:
They will be on the usual Jewelcrafting recipe vendor. Tome of Burning Jewels will be availiable on the vendor and will teach you a random epic gem recipe at a cost of 4 Jewelcrafting tokens. Specific epic gem recipes however will cost 5 tokens.
If you have lots of gold to spare then epic gems may not be a problem for you as there are always plenty available in the auction house for a fair few hundred

Of all these elements, several are in high supply. Of these, you need to be watching for the lowest prices, and shamelessly bottom feeding. Three of the elements are either in low supply or high demand, or have such a volatile value that they are worth stockpiling. (Never stockpile any item without a back up plan. Your gamble could go wrong)

Heartblossom. Low supply.
