How Can Oil Filter Systems Help?

By:

Oil filter systems come in a variety of shapes and sizes. While the end-goal is the same, there are a number of different ways to get there. In many settings, a bypass system allows this process to take place without having to shut down the machine which is getting its oil cleaned. It can be difficult to determine when to use oil filter systems, however some of the common signals include non-smooth operation, additional noise, and visible machine abrasion.

There are a number of contaminants that can occur in used oil, both from oil breakdown as well as outside factors from the machine. One of the most common contaminants is metallic particles which do not originate in the oil, but rather come from machine operation. In many cases, this is caused by friction and regular wear and tear. Moisture is another common contaminant that can degrade the effectiveness of oil. Dirt and dust from the surrounding workspace can also find its way into oil. While there can be additional pollutants in the oil, these are three contaminants that are most commonly the reason that oil filter systems are needed.

Oil filter systems are used for several reasons. In most settings, the primary reason for oil filtration is to keep the machines in good working order. Unclean oil can make machines work inefficiently or even cause a complete breakdown. Machine malfunction is a very common result from exposing machines to unclean oil for an extended period of time. In the end, this will lower the lifespan of any machine. Oil filter systems can help prevent these types of issues from arising in the first place.

Along with protecting the machines from contaminated oil, oil filter systems can serve additional purposes as well. The cost of changing oil every time that it becomes contaminated can be very costly over the course of several months or a year. By using oil filter systems, the same oil can be cleaned and reused multiple times which can decrease maintenance costs. Additionally, with a properly running machine, they can be more energy efficient as well, which can reduce electricity costs.

There are several common ways to implement oil filter systems, however bypass systems have become the most common. It provides all of the benefits that filtering oil can create while also eliminating the lost production that will result from having to shut down machines in order to change their oil.
