How Can Leased Line Technology Enable Businesses To Obtain A Fast Internet Connection

By:

Internet technology has evolved rapidly over the past decade and is still rapidly evolving. Both companies and individuals are able to access very high speeds when connecting to the internet. London boasts speeds of up to 1gbps (gigabits per second). These speeds can be accessed in most areas that have a built up metropolitan area, one such area where access to the fastest speeds is possible is to get a leased line London which boasts leased line speeds or leased line connections of 1gbps in places where leased line connectivity is at its best.

Traditionally internet users used a dial up connection which uses the facilities of the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to establish a dialled connection to an Internet service provider (ISP) via telephone lines. Dial up connections connect through a computer or router. The internet is accessed via a modem which encodes and decodes internet packet data into a format that is usable by the computer. Drawbacks of the dial up connection are that is can be slow, cost a lot to download information as you often pay per megabyte that you access and because it uses the same frequency as the human voice it makes accessing the internet and calling at the same time impossible.

Currently we are use a better and faster system, that of ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. Broadband and subsequently ADSL enables a much faster transfer of data to and from your home or office. Because it uses the much higher frequencies on a telephone that human ears are not capable of hearing, it is able to be on 24 hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days a year if required by the individual. Drawbacks of this line are that it almost always uses a shared connection from the data provider to the point of presence (POP). This means that you are limited in your bandwidth speeds by the company and far more by the number of people using the line at any one time.

A solution to this is a leased line connection. A leased line is a private high-performance circuit leased by a common carrier between a customer and a service provider's network. This means that businesses in places like London could use leased line connectivity to gain a dedicated Leased line internet connection which has unrestricted access to the internet. Leased lines are usually paid for on an annual basis but this is not the only option.

The benefits of leased line connections begin with allowing guaranteed bandwidth speeds that are not only private but constant allowing business in London to flow smoothly. A Service-Level Agreement or an SLA is a comprehensive agreement with a guaranteed fix time that will pay out compensation if the line goes down which provides safely and security for your business. There is often built in flexibility within the leased line services. One call and a small payment and you are able to adjust the speed of your leased line to suit your company's needs.
