How Camping Trips Make Great Holidays For Children

Years ago whilst my children were still small I was generally reluctant to take them abroad, and did not until they were both teenagers. Every time we all went camping I always tried to find someplace where there was loads to keep the kids busy and safe and sound so that my spouse and I were able to catch up on our reading, or the entire family group could take a look at neighbouring places of interest. One factor about camping is that it is quite effortless to move on to some other location if the one youre at doesnt suit you or youve done and seen every thing there is to do and experience. Some of the most pleasant trips we have enjoyed were at locations that were fairly simple but in the centre of glorious suroundings.

The members of the family who experienced the most out of our camping trips were the children. Our son especially, slotted in to this life style perfectly and it was quite usual for him to leave us for a couple of hours only to re-surface hot, thirsty, hungry and mucky with a gang of other kids following on. Hed be fed and watered and then off he would go once more with his retinue to continue whatever adventure game they'd been taking part in. In those halcyon years we had no need to be anxious regarding where they all were because all the other parents would be keeping a watchful yet unobtrusive eye on them, as did we.

On a particular occasion we stayed at a site where there was a community hall with entertainment, yet as we didnt much care for it we erected our tent a long way away from it. It happened to be one of those beautifully warm summers evenings where you can relax outdoors a long way into the night. We lit a modest bonfire and cooked a handful of potatoes, by which time there was once again an array of kids gathered round. After despatching them off to gather wood to fuel the bonfire we all stayed around enjoying charade-type games my wife and I offering up the situations for all the little ones to play out. Mums and dads wishing to go to the club house were shunned and no-one wanted to go once it was time for bed, they were enjoying such a excellent time. Once all had gone still we relaxed back in our seats looking at the night sky and saw our first shooting star.
