The most frequent use for a Cable TV connection undeniably is entertainment and news. In fact the majority of viewers do not touch upon other channels, hence the reason why you will see so many channels that are exclusively designated for music, movies and even sports. However, do not forget that cable TV providers like Verizon FiOS TV also have channels that are exclusively devoted to health issues and medicine. When viewed on HD TV, your viewing pleasure can even double. It will do well to become knowledgeable on issues that are health related, especially those that concern women. It was really refreshing to see a discussion on bacterial yeast infection.

Bacterial yeast infection is so very common in women, especially in the US, where nearly a fourth of all women had been treated for this condition at one time or the other for Candida; also considered as the most common form. The symptoms are often very similar to bacterial vaginosis; however the methods used for treating the two are vastly different. Since, both have almost the same symptoms, trying self diagnosis can lead to problems later.

The yeast that causes Candida is normally present in the body and is a fungus. They will normally not cause any discomfiture, because the immune system of women helps to keep them in check. However any excess growth of this fungus can lead to a diseased condition. The usual treatment for this condition is taking antibiotic; both orally and as topical application. Taking antibiotics can be harmful, because they tend to kill the good bacteria, also called the bodys flora, along with the disease causing ones. Sometimes your doctor will also prescribe medication to replenish the flora of bacteria to sustain proper digestion, and maintain appropriate bowel movement.

The common reason why some women are prone to Candida, while others are resistant, is a matter of personal hygiene consciousness. Under wears and to some extent the water we use for bathing, have a direct bearing to contracting this disease. Therefore the prudent way to keep this disease at bay is to wear fresh cloth every other day, especially the ones worn next to the skin. Washing daily with a mild body disinfectant after a bath is also recommended if the disease is contracted more frequently. Making some lifestyle changes can also help, especially your diet.

The possibility of transmitting the disease to ones partner is also high in unprotected sex. The disease will normally show up in less than a week and treatment is a necessity for both partners. In men, however, the disease takes longer to show any symptoms. Women should consider themselves as infected if they see abnormal discharges and have difficulty in passing urine. In men the first symptom will be a burning sensation when they urinate. Commencing treatment at the earliest possible is best. Self medication is complicated, because the infected person is always at risk of making the wrong diagnosis.

The possibility of the disease manifesting into a serious one are very high if not treated within a framework of time. In which case, the yeast will enter the blood stream, making treatment complicated and time consuming. In that event the patient is likely to show symptoms of thrush, athletes foot and skin Candida. Besides, the skin, the patient can also expect damage to other body organs and may even require surgery if left unattended.

One of the common mistakes that patients generally resort to is home remedy and using medications sold across the counter; and sometimes using prescription drugs. The best solution that medical doctors will advice, is to prevent the disease by maintaining personal hygiene or when infected seek medical assistance immediately.
