How Back Pain Symptoms Can Really Be Helped With Lower Back Stretches

By:

Statistics show that one in five Americans go to the doctor with back pain symptoms. This is one of the most common health issues in the world. Most sick leave and job-related disabilities can be attributed to back pain as a direct result of bad back health. Unfortunately, it seems that upper back stretches, lower back stretches are unlikely to miraculously fix all those back issues any time soon.

History shows that stretching and exercising the spine and the back contributes a lot to the suppleness of the spine and keeping it in good working condition.

Body degeneration and deterioration is a natural part of aging and with the large number of baby boomers reaching the latter part of their lives, this is painfully obvious. What is equally obvious is that the spine carries out the major work for the body including flexibility and stability and this becomes harder as you age.

Only a sedentary hermit would argue that a healthy lifestyle and exercise does not help slow down degeneration and help maintain a younger body, inside and out.

It is no wonder, then, that the gentle practice of yoga is growing significantly in the world as people come to understand the benefits of hip stretches, stretches for lower back pain relief and the myriad stretching and flexibility exercises.

A lot of people with back pain symptoms just simply do not want to exercise under any circumstances. To them, the idea of taking some precious time for stretches for lower back pain, or an exercise or two to relieve upper back pain or ease a pinched nerve in back, just does not seem to dawn on their psyche.

The ability for the body to operate at a maximum level is severely compromised by both our lack of regular exercise and also by our increasingly sedentary life style. In fact, for many people, life style choices impact substantially on more than just their physical presence.

With all this taken into account, there are active people who still have stiff backs and have flexibility issues and may even have the slight lower left back pain.

An element of this could be from not including stretches in the exercise program and not doing so, means the body becomes increasingly stiffer and stiffer.

These issues are relieved immensely by including stretches - lower back stretches, upper back exercises, hip exercises to name a few - and they should be included every time exercise is undertaken, starting now.

Maintaining good posture is one of the most critical roles of the spine. This is something that is taken for granted and it is only as we age and start to stoop that we understand the hard task the spine has had to play.

A good posture is not simply a matter of 'standing straight' or 'putting our shoulders back' - as many mothers remind us. It is all about the way the spine holds the rest of our main body parts together to create a strong stance.

It is the spine that allows us to keep the head balanced and not let it drop forward, or to keep our hips straight and not pushing forward so we even up with a bowed back.

These are important tasks for the spine and not attending to spinal health will mean it can not attend to its fundamental role and could very easily result in back pain symptoms, or a pinched nerve in back or even sciatica symptoms.

Treating the spine with the respect it is entitled too will mean back pain is not such a common problem. The spine needs basic care including exercising, healthy food and gentle stretches to keep it working at optimum levels.

Unfortunately at this time, even these simple preventative options seem to be beyond so many people that it is no wonder that back pain issues rank right up there next to headaches.
