How And When To Use A Squeeze Page

By:

Building a viable email list of highly targeted customer prospects is incredibly important to selling your products. You can build a robust email list by employing a finely tuned squeeze page.

Squeeze page explained

A squeeze page is a website page that invites the reader to supply name and email address. The content of these pages is generally brief and completely focused on its main message, convincing the reader to leave contact information. Copy and graphics are tightly controlled and limited in most squeeze pages. A squeeze page is not the same as a landing page. They serve two complete different functions.

Landing Page

The primary function of a landing page is to convince the reader to purchase the production offer. These pages frequently contain more text and tend to speak to the reader's needs and how they will be filled by the product under discussion. Landing pages do not typically try to collect contact information from the reader. The goal of the landing page is to convince the reader to go onto the product description or complete a purchase.

Prerequisites for a squeeze page

In order to effectively use the squeeze page technique, you will need to have established a website with its own domain name (Your squeeze page should not be a single page website), initiated an agreement with an Internet Service Provider, selected an auto responder (email service provider) service like Aweber and identified something to offer people who may be right for your email list.

Anatomy of a good squeeze page

The squeeze page should make compact use of words. Each word should be powerful in terms of its ability to entice people to leave their contact information.

Make your headline enticing

Remember that readers scan pages for about three to five seconds. If your headline does not grab them, they are gone again. So, make sure that the headline of your squeeze page gives them something that makes them want to read on. Test various headlines until you find the ones that work best for your situation. You can get good ideas by trying out the squeeze pages for popular, high volume sites you know they are doing something right.

Keep the content simple

Do not force the reader to work through a lot of content. Tell them why they should leave their contact information then ask them to do so. Make the option in page prominent and above the fold.

Give them one really good reason to subscribe

Be sure you can succinctly tell your reader why they should subscribe. Provide an eBook, a report, a newsletter that provides enough useful information to make it attractive to your reader.

Provide a testimonial

If you can, use someone else words to entice your reader. There is nothing like a vote of confidence from another reader.

Make the opt in obvious

Be sure the reader can easily figure out how to opt in.

Add a few links at the bottom

While the squeeze page should be focused on getting the opt in, you should realize that if the reader gets to the bottom of the page and still has not acted, he may not act at all. At that point it is preferable to provide some other choice so that you can get another swing at the ball on another page.

Squeeze pages should be an integral part of your marketing strategy.
