A recent study revealed that approximately 50 million are lost in the Hospitality Industry because of employee fraud each year. This is an especially worrying figure if you operate your own business within this industry. It raises the question, whether you are affected too. If the answer is yes, how much am I losing?
Obviously this should be closely followed by what can I do about it and how can I prevent this happening in the future. The Employee Fraud - Hospitality Industry Workshop, organized by Argent Associates, could be your next step to understand the measures you can take to prevent fraud from impacting on your business.
The workshop has been put together by a group of industry specialists. The team consists of John Greening, the Managing Partner of The Greening Group, John Martin, Regional Director of Venners Ltd and Geoffrey Kay, Founder of Argent Associates.
The workshop has been designed for Senior Team Members. It aims to take participants on a journey so they can spot and identify key fraud indicators. From here attendees will be given advice on how to nurture a suitable management culture to prevent fraud, what systems are worth considering to help protect profits as well as advice on some of the legal implications. Finally, the question What do I do when fraud or theft occurs in my own business? will be answered.
The Workshop is scheduled for two dates this year, Tuesday, the 22nd September 2009 at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel in Mudeford and on Thursday, 24th September 2009 at the Lansdowne Hotel in Eastbourne. The programme starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm. It costs 295 per person + VAT.
Argent Associates is a specialist fraud training company which has been established for over 25 years. They specialize in providing fraud training. Their courses include the ever popular
investigation training course, which is ideal for new or experienced investigators alike.
Another course which is offered is the world-renowned SCAN
Statement analysis training, which was developed by Avinoam Sapir, a former psychology professor and Israeli police officer. The technique enables the interviewer to decode hidden messages within statements (written or verbal) from witnesses, victims or suspects. It is based on the theory that actually, people want to tell you everything, even when they have committed a crime.
The
cognitive investigation course is an advanced fraud course. Cognitive is defined as the mental process of knowing, comprising aspects such as awareness, perception, memory, reasoning and judgment. This interview method uses the witnesses recall. By employing key triggers, the witness recreates the psychological and physical context in which the event was observed. It is highly effective in obtaining details of incidents that the witness would not normally have remembered.
