Horse riding is a sport just like any other. Horse riding could be challenging as it takes a lot of courage, balance, and perseverance. But, if you are really interested in learning horse riding, contact a good horse riding trainer to train you. Saddle up now!
BASIC STEPS ON HORSE RIDING (check resource of full version: Wikipedia)
Start to mount on the left side. Hold the reins tight in one hand. Put your left foot secured in the stirrup.
Lift yourself up and swing your free leg over the other side of the horse.Once mounted, hold your reins tightly and get in position keeping your shoulders, hip, and heels all aligned.
Keep your hands low and about the same level on the horse's neck and wither. Sit tall. Make sure your heels point down to helpkeep your balance.
Start off with a slow walk. Do this by gently squeezing your lower calf against his sides. If the horse does not move off even then, say "walk" firmly and give a slightly harder squeeze with your legs.
Pull on the left rein to go left and pull the right rein to go right. Put pressure on right leg if you want to make a left turn and vice versa
When you want to stop, sit back deep relaxed. If you get no response from the horse, squeeze inward using both hands. Start to tug gently. Pull harder if he still does not respond. Practice some more on the basics, going in each direction, stop and start until you are completely in sync with the horse. Also practice mounts and dismounts several times to get you more at ease, especially if its your first horse riding experience.
The moment you get accustomed to the walk, move on to try the trot. Take your time. Practice makes perfect. Try posting. To post, simply rise and fall. When the shoulders move forward, you go up. When it reverses, you move down. Do not lean back way too far to look at his shoulder. Just take a quick glance and subtly tilt your head. Continue practicing until you reach your most comfortable level.
