Hong Kong: Seven Things You Can Do For Free

Being a tourist on a tight budget is normally a frustrating experience. But what most travellers often forget is that some of the best tourist experiences do not necessarily come with a price tag. Join me, David Garcia, as I show you Seven Free Things You Can Do in Hong Kong:

1.Get a taste of Hong Kongs rich history and culture through seven of its major museums. You can normally get a Museum Pass for all seven venues for just HK$30. This pass allows entry to the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the Museum of Art, the Museum of Coastal Defence, the Hong Kong Museum of History, the Science Museum, and the Space Museum. Thirty Hong Kong dollars is a pretty good price but the best part of it is entry is absolutely free for the same venues every Wednesday!

2. Take a stroll through Hong Kongs Parks. There is no better way to experience a foreign lands culture than to dive right in public recreation areas. Take advantage of attractions, fairs, and activities such as kung fu demonstrations offered for free in Kowloon Park, Kowloon Walled City Park, and Hong Kong Park.

3.Enjoy free lectures and tours from local experts. The Hong Kong Tourism Board Information Centre can tell you more about the Meet the People program and free lectures on feng shui, the opera, tea ceremonies, and other traditions. Learn about crafts and traditions handed down from generation to generation straight from the experts and mingle with people of the same interests through these free programs.

4.Nurture your body and mind through Tai Chi. Most parks in Hong Kong play host to Tai Chi sessions early in the morning. Be calmed by watching peoples graceful movements or get up early enough to take part in free sessions yourself often held at the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront promenade.

5.Stretch your legs and go on a walking tour. Pick out a map from the tourism website of Hong Kong and marvel at the sights, sounds, and smells from Hong Kongs busy markets, architectural wonders, and temples. Other than the fact that you dont have to spend a single cent on these tours, walking tours are perfect as they give you a chance to take everything in at your own pace.

6.Spend some time at the Tsim Sha Tsuis Waterfront. Couples will surely enjoy the fantastic view of Hong Kong harbor and the romantic atmosphere offered by the waterfront. To cap off your perfect evening, head to the waterfront and enjoy the Hong Kong laser and light show every night at 8 pm.

7.Visit the Hong Kong Cultural Centre for free shows for your family. Weekends are best for going to the Cultural Centre to witness classical music, magic shows, dance performances, and more for free! Introduce Hong Kongs tradition and culture to your kids through puppet shows and others free activities without spending a cent!

Experiencing everything that Hong Kong has to offer does not have to be an expensive endeavour. If you have the patience to poke around and ask, youll find a variety of free activities and other things to see and do in Hong Kong without burning a hole through your pocket.
