Honeymoon Like A Rock Star

Celebrities can afford their own secret island honeymoon hideaways, but heres a secret: so can you. Tammy Levent, President of Elite Travel, shows the way to secret island getaways where you and your new partner can have fun in superstar style.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, Britney and Kevin Federline, Paul McCartney and Heather Mills all spent their post-nuptials tucked away on private islands. And even though that may seem like a luxury kept for multi-millionaires, there are some personal islands that are better arrangements than you may believe.

Raffles Canouan resort
Just 110 miles west of Barbados is Raffles Canouan resort: one hundred and fifty-six opulent quarters and villas arranged close to three white sand beaches. Each room or villa is provided with its own golf cart that guests can utilize to cross the three hundred acre estate. In excess of one hundred villas might seem like an excess of company for a personal island, but as you have three hundred acres to explore, you will not see your neighbors unless you would like to. If you set off during the off season, there are not only a smaller number of people, but the accommodations are less costly also. Just be sure to get travel insurance in case of hurricanes.

As you cant spend an entire week inside a magnificent suite containing a king sized bed and deep soaking hot tub (could you?), there are four restaurants and bars, a big swimming pool, tennis courts, the Trump Club Privee casino, the Raffles Golf Course (chosen top course in the Caribbean), and the Raffles Amrita spa with treatment rooms looking out over the ocean. Their post-nuptial package are priced from $4,630 to $17,860 weekly depends on the room or villa and the time of year. That cost might appear excessive, but once you take into account that it includes 7 nights, transportation from Barbados to Canouan via private jet, most activities, and breakfasts, its amazingly inexpensive. And if you are planning a destination wedding, Raffles Canouan has an exquisite 17th century stone chapel that was shipped from England and reconstructed on the island in the 19th century.

Royal Plantation at Fowl Cay
If navigating your own golf cart pleases you, how about your own private motorboat? And does your villa require a butler? Royal Plantation at Fowl Cay believes so. Only thirty visitors at a time can stay at this six villa resort on a fifty-acre island, only two hundred miles from Miami. Villas are provided with full-sized stocked kitchens, butler service, and a small boat, which you can use after demonstrating some skill. If you are unsure what a butler does, he meets you at the arrival dock with a silver tray of cocktails, prepares and serves your breakfasts, packs your snorkel equipment into the boat for your tour of the islands, and goes away at precisely the right times.

To make your way to Fowl Cay, fly into Nassau International Airport, then board a forty-minute flight to Staniel Cay airstrip in the Exuma islands. The Royal Plantation boat will collect you once you arrive and transport you to the island. Hey, if it was easy to get there, it wouldnt be a personal island, would it? There is a 4-day, 3 night minimum stay for $2175 per person, which is an exceptional price since a comparable experience in Tahiti would cost $1800 per night (and does not include food).
