Honda Motors, the Japanese car major was quite successful in markets like Japan, U.S and other emerging car markets. It was time for them to take on India, as India was just opening after the libarlisation norms and rules. The first thing that they did was to join an alliance with Siel group of India to form Honda Siel holdings and set up their shop in the country in the late 90s.

After the joint venture was set up they, came in with their tried and tested Honda City sedan, which was rage in other countries where they sold the product. The Honda City soon became an instant hit here in the Indian market and has never looked back ever since. Banking on the growing demand for luxury cars with an economical price tag, Honda motors took the big Indian car market by its horns and started delivering more and more products in India.

But Honda City always remained the best of the lot coming out from the Honda factory in India. The plant that they set up in Gurgoan, started to churn out more and more Honda cars. Soon after, Honda City was re-launched in India with the V-Tech engine, which also like the previous edition became a hit here.
