Home Security-surprisingly Easy Way To Prevent Home Invasions

By:

Burglaries are on the increase across the United States. They are committed by usually single adult males who are looking to rob a home of the contents to resell-usually get drugs. Homeowners are not home and no physical danger is imminent from the burglar. Home invasions on the other hand, are much more dangerous.

They are on the increase too. They are committed by two or more people who pick homes that are occupied with the intention of inflicting injury. That's what makes home invasions so intimidating. There's a very real chance of assaults, injury, rape or even death to you or your family.

According to law enforcement officials well over 85 percent of all home burglaries are preventable. Home invasions are preventable too. The vast majority of home invasions happen right through the front door with a homeowner opening the door for the bad guys. Sounds stupid doesn't it? But I used to be the same way. When my doorbell rang or somebody knocked on my door I would reflexively open the door without looking through my peephole to see who was there.

Once the door opens an inch it doesn't take much to open it all the way. Make sure you have a peephole and use it. If you don't have dead bolt locks get some and if possible use hardwood doors. And then install some home security cameras at your front and back door. Any burglar who would want to take a chance of being seen by a home security camera is nuts.

Also the more obstacles you can throw in a way of a home invader the better. So join or start a neighborhood watch. Put a sign warning of a vicious guard dog in your front yard. Install some home security cameras. All those things send a signal to burglars and home invaders to stay away.

But the number one way a surprisingly easy way to prevent a home invasion is to use your peephole. Know who is at your front door before you let them in.

If you think crime can only happen to the other guy you are wrong. The "other guy" is thinking the same thing and to him you are that "other guy". There is a reason why they call it self defense. You have to protect yourself, your family, your home and business!!

Chances are if you are reading this that crime has touched your life in some way or you consider yourself at risk. Take the next step and do something to protect yourself! Your life and safety is worth far more than the cost of a cheap home security system.
