Boil or furuncle is a skin disease caused by the inflammation of hair follicles, thus resulting in the localized accumulation of pus and dead tissues. Every time, the area becomes firm and hard. blood cells that the body sends from the blood stream to eradicate the infection.

It is one of the common skin infections which can range from the severity of a pimple to an abscess. The reason for having boils is mainly due to bacteria. Some people are vulnerable to such bacteria more than the others which can be reason for their problems.

Common causes of skin boils include bacteria that can enter the skin if a foreign object such as a splinter becomes lodged in the skin, ingrown hairs, clogged hair follicles, clogged oil ducts, and clogged sweat glands.

Boils are usually caused by bacteria. There are times that the boil may break open and cause the bacteria to spread to any nearby skin and then that can cause new boils to form. A painful red bump will appear and is filled with puss the boil can usually become very painful within a 24 hour period.

Avoid touching or draining the pus of a boil since you will only spread the infection to nearby skin, causing new boils to form. If a boil drains, use a clean towel or tissue paper to wipe the area and prevent the infection from spreading. Cover the area with sterile gauze and wash your hands before and after dressing the wound.

If the boils appear on the nose or the upper lip, inside of the nose might get inflamed and might be accompanied by fever. There are some remedies that one can follow to reduce the effects of boils. Food intake must be taken care where sour and fatty foods should be avoided. Take watermelon as it cleanses the blood.

Home Remedies to Cure Boils

1. Apply the juice of onion or garlic on the boils, as it helps in evacuating the pus.

2. Milk cream is considered valuable in the treatment of boils. Take 1 tsp of milk cream and add ½ tsp vinegar and a pinch of turmeric powder to it. Apply it on the blood filled boils.

3. For boils filled with blood, bitter gourd acts as the perfect boils home remedy treatment. Take 1 cup juice of bitter gourd and add 1 tsp limejuice to it. Consume this mixture empty stomach in the morning on a daily basis for a couple of months and see the magical results.

Treatment for Boils

Never squeeze or pop a boil, as this could cause it to burst internally, creating an even worse infection.

Hot compresses may relieve pain and make a boil heal faster. If a painful boil persists, see a doctor, who may drain it and prescribe antibiotics.

Have a doctor examine any carbuncle or boil that persists longer than two weeks or has redness surrounding it. With boils that last more than two weeks, there's the threat that the infection may spread to the bloodstream or internal organs. In these more serious situations, your physician may prescribe an oral antibiotic or surgically drain the boil.
