I am a 34 year old South African which is a radiological transcriptionist for the past 8 years. I am currently working at my third radiological practice. I tried to get a certificate for MT in South Africa, but there is no university or institution where I can obtain it from. This is my only hope to further my studies in this field I was unfortunate in losing my father at a very you age and had to start working when I was 16. My mother at that time was a medical nurse devoted to her work, did not receive a good salary and had to work night shift to keep us going. It was not easy for her as she could not spend time with her three children. She later worked for a doctor where she got me started at a small radiological practice, where I started my typing career. jobs typing work home
My true passion is medical typing but there is no way that I can get any further education in South Africa. My sister stays in Tampa Florida and would like to sponsor me and my family to go to America, but I have no qualification to show just experience. In South Africa we are not advanced enough for me to be a work from home medical transcriptionist for the practices I work for. I have to work 8 hours a day 5 days a week, thus is there not enough time to spend with my son and daughter. I believe in getting this diploma I would be able to get a good job on the internet as I have all the requirements to do so. I would like get this MT experience on the internet to start doing it at home and earn extra money to stay at home with my children and earn enough money and experience to immigrate to America to give my children the opportunity that was taken from me. My objective in the next 5 to 10 years is to have my own business in MT and help people that are in the same circumstances as me and give them the opportunity to better themselves. I know I have the drive and hunger for knowledge to better myself and be the best in my field. In the last week I just started at a new practice where we work on an internet based program. It is all new to me and make me want to experience it all. My experience in typing for more than 26 different doctors give me the confidence that I can do this course. We do type on the American dictionary and most of the terminology I do know. I am a fast leaner and take pride in what I do, but due to financial restraint I will not be able to afford you package at the moment as I have 2 children to look after. I hope sincerely that you will take me in consideration for this scholarship and I promise I will do my part to be the best I can be.
