Home Insurance - Don't Overlook It

By:

Homeowner insurance is overlooked too often. Auto, life and health care insurance are usually thought about more. However, it is just as important to be concerned about your homeowners insurance policy too.
home insurance or the lack of it, can destroy your future. A major loss that isn't covered by insurance can stop even the best plan dead in its tracks. It may take years, maybe more years than you have left, to make up for an uncovered loss.
If you your house is in danger of being destroyed by a flood, an insurance policy that includes flood insurance is very important. Katrina has made us very aware of the damage flooding can do to a house.

You also want to make sure that your insurance policy will cover the cost of rebuilding your house. If your house burned down, you want to be able to rebuild the entire house not just part of it.
A review of your homeowners insurance could be the only thing that keeps you from losing your house when a fire, flood or other catastrophe strikes.
You should know the answers to the following:

  • Will I save money if my home and auto are insured by the same company?

  • Will my present level of coverage be enough pay for rebuiling my home if a catastrophe hit?

  • Are my furniture and other possessions inside the house well covered?

Homeowners insurance is usually much less expensive than car insurance. This may be one of the reasons that it is easy to overlook. Make the time to shop for the best deal and to be certain you are properly covered. Good House coverage might be the only thing that keeps you from being homeless. Make sure that your coverage will protect you.
