The International Woodcoatings Congress

Held each and every year in Amsterdam, in attendance can be found some leading research institutions and who, particularly, invest their resources into the Forest Products sector. Some very pressing p[projects are discussed at the conference concerning this such as treatments for interior and exterior wood applications along with technical developments in coatings.

The 7th conference, in 2010, was centred around "Reducing the Environmental Footprint" and, in particular, how this topic is viewed by the corporate sector. There were also delegates, of course, engaging in networking opportunities, making brand new contacts and sharing and learning some valuable information and experience.

IDSA International Conference

Portland, Oregon is the permanent home to this conference and some of the most intelligent players in the industry are in attendance. The conference sees in some shape or form a collection of delegates either with great knowledge, passion, or with fine artistic ability. They are all there with the same purpose and that purpose is to solve problems that exist within the industry.

The former topic features a talk by Bob Marchant, CEO and President of Modo. Marchant takes an in-depth look at the interaction between people, emotions and objects. There will be case studies of "You-based" design featuring Betty and ECG for urban hospitals in China by GE Healthcare. It looks at certain tools and techniques which can explain what certain things mean and how much more important it is to know this than what they actually do.

Staged at Birmingham NEC in the UK, every high street retailer you can think of will be exhibiting and on hand to pass on their combined wealth of experience to delegates. Many wish to seek advice on practical issues they have at home and of which there is no obvious immediate solution. The exhibitors are more than happy to help and the delegate usually finds that they go home with a new-found confidence that they can address their particular issue.
There are also a range of seminars with those who like a more formal setting and 2010 saw talks by Tony Roberts, the owner of D&G Hardware and Matthew Hopkins, Business development Director of The Local Data Company, accompanied by other fantastic speakers.
