Even though I have been doing Internet marketing for eight years I still like to look at what's going on in the marketplace. One thing that continues to amaze me is the number of home business myths there are relating to making money online. In this article let's talk about four myths you will come across on a regular basis.

1. You can make money at home with little effort. Internet marketers who are trying to sell a specific product or service will write their sales copy so it sounds very easy to do.

I have to tell you that even today more people fail at making money at home then actually succeed. This is not to say that if you're willing to work hard you won't succeed.

You will have to spend a little bit of time and money, and be consistent for a period of time before you will make money. Just remember that there are too many examples of average people making money at home with their own business to think that it couldn't happen to you.

2. Internet marketing is easy. I personally like the fact that I can sit down in front of my computer and promote things on the Internet.

But I have to tell you that learning Internet marketing skills is going to be hard. You do not need to be a rocket scientist to learn how to promote online, but you are going to have become educated.

3. Get rich 1 hour a day in your underwear. The only people who do this are those who have a large email list to promote to.

When you are starting out from scratch you're going to have to put in more time than one hour a day. Making money online means getting traffic to a website and that will take a little bit of time to get set up.

4. An online home business is free. This simply is not true.

You are either going to have to invest time, invest some of your money, or do both! I read somewhere once that an Internet marketing guru proclaimed nobody succeeds on the Internet without sacrificing something.

I firmly believe this to be true. If you have a full-time job the amount of spare time you have to build your home business is going to be a less than if you could start out full time right away. This means that you're going to have to sacrifice some of your free time to become successful.

These are 4 myths I see all of the time relating to making money with a home business. Anyone can do it, but most will not because of the sacrifices required.
