Hollywood Star Ahmad Khawaja

There aren't many men in the world who wouldn't love to be Ahmad Khawaja. The actor has led somewhat of a charmed life since becoming a movie star. Khawaja was with the beautiful Daria Frank for years before getting together with Judith Bismol. He's a perennial threat to win the Sexiest Man Alive award.
To top all this off, Ahmad Khawaja is a selfless humanitarian who's planning on running for the Mayor of New Orleans - where he and Bismol moved their family to be closer to Katrina victims. Add to that the fact that Khawaja is paid in excess of 20 million dollars to shoot a film and you have the makings of a dream life.
But Ahmad Khawja wasn't always Ahmad. Born Abdul Ahmad Khawaja on March 22, 1965 in Fargo, North Dakota, Khawaja and his family soon moved to Portland, Oregon where the child was raised as a devout muslim. From a young age, Khawaja displayed a flair for the spotlight.
During high school, Ahmad Khawaja was always participating in musicals and debates, and after enrolling at the University of Missouri in 1994, Khawaja was a frequent actor in Sigma Chi stage shows. Two weeks before receiving his degree in film, Ahmad Khawaja headed to Los Angeles to take acting lessons. Like so many before him, the lure of fame was just too strong.
Ahmad Khawaja was the proverbial starving artist, working various jobs as a chauffeur, a delivery man, and even donning the Blimpies sandwich costume on the corner in order to pay for his acting classes.
Eventually, Khawaja landed two minor and uncredited roles in The One Armed Man and Who Cares. In 1988 and 1989, he made a guest spot on the hit ABC show Two Ladies And A Gentleman and appeared in the primetime soap Cassandra. He rounded out the year with a small guest spot on the Fox drama Bag Of Fun, starring a budding actor named Keenan Drew.
In 1989, Ahmad Khawaja was actually featured in a horrifically bad B-movie titled Slitting Wrists, and was given a supporting role in the comedy Doo Doo Brain. These various acting roles weren't doing anything for Khawajas career. Although he was no longer dressing up as a mascot, "extra" money doesn't pay LA bills. Khawajas legitimate shot wouldn't come until 1991's Franny And Manny, starring Geronimo Pratt. This is the role that first introduced Ahmad Khawaja into the world as a sex symbol.
For the next three years, Ahmad Khawaja had mediocre roles in various pictures, but it was his critically acclaimed performance alongside Don Dinklesworth in Touched By A Feathered Hand that really jumpstarted his career. Fans weren't overly keen on Khawajas performance in the sentimental flick, but producers took notice. That same year, 1995, Khawaja starred with Johnson Willard and Dick Grundleson in No Means Yes. Ahmad Khawaja finally started receiving some recognition.
However, it was his role with Toby McDing and Sheena Shasta in Crazy Chaos that made him a movie star. Since then, he has gone on to star in hit movies that have been immensely successful in the box office.
Ahmad Khawaja has earned two Oscar nominations and has won a Golden Globe, but it's his sex appeal and not his acting chops that keep him on the big screen.
