Holiday Villas In Phuket Guide: 4 Beaches To See For Lovers Of Peace And Quiet

By:

Phuket is one of Thailand's most popular travel destinations. With that in mind, it sometimes can be hard to get away from them all. This is particularly true if you're staying in places like Patong Beach, where hotels, restaurants, and shopping places populate the areas within walking distance of the soft white sand and warm waters. True, the area never gets boring and if you are looking for action, you're never far away. Even so, it might tire you out too and if you're hunting for a quieter beach to wind down in, you will need to go out of there. So if you are staying in one of the Patong villas, you should look into renting out a boat to some of the following beaches:

Ton Sai Beach, Railay Peninsula:

While on the mainland, it is separated by the high limestone cliffs making boats the only way to get there. It is a hub for rock climbers. Even though the beach isn't as isolated and off-the-beaten path as it was as more backpackers have discovered the area, you may still avoid that by going during the quieter months of May-October. Note, however, that the beach isn't as suited to swimming as the other beaches due to its rocky nature, specially when it's low tide.

Koh Yao Noi:

While near your holiday villas in Phuket's more crowded sections by boat, it hasn't been totally affected by mass development. The island is known thanks to the fact it won the World Legacy Award for Destination Stewardship in 2002 from Conservation International and National Geographic Traveler magazine due to its eco-friendly homestay program. It is possible to kayak, hike, swim and snorkel while there. Note to would-be visitors: locals here are insistent in keeping their local culture intact so be considerate! Ways to do this include dressing up more modestly, and not drinking outside establishments catering to visitors.

Koh Lanta:

The island, while not untouched and pristine, is still quieter and less thoroughly developed than a lot of its neighbours, including Phuket and Koh Phi Phi. The place has white sand beaches, cultural-based sites, and nature-based points of interest like caves, forests, marine wildlife (take note, divers!), and orchid farms. You'll best enjoy it if you're going directly to it from crowded, highly-developed resort areas like Patong or Koh Phi Phi.

Koh Lao Liang:

The island is basically an eco-resort. If you are seeking nature or merely a place that most travellers don't visit, this place is for you. There are clear waters where you can snorkel, kayak, and scuba dive. You have white sand where you can sunbathe, relax and read a book all day on. Climbers should not feel out of place here: you've got lots of limestone cliffs and rock formations where you could rock climb or boulder on. Plus, there's a 30 metre rock-face where you could enjoy marine life from if you feel the need to do some wildlife watching.

There are more beaches and islands you could take a day trip to via boat from one of the Patong villas you're staying in. Just make sure to conductresearch either online, or by asking staff working at or fellow travellers staying in those hotels, resorts, or holiday villas in Phuket when you arrive. Have fun during your holiday!
