Hiring A Professional Appliance Technician

Hiring A Professional Appliance Technician

By:

Not long ago, I noticed my refrigerator was not getting my food very cold, so I determined to become a do it yourself handyman. After a couple of hours on the internet and a few more on my knees behind the refrigerator, I got the refrigerator back on. I don't know what I did except to clean the whole thing out, but I felt great as I sat back and calculated how much money I had just saved by doing my own appliance repair. Not only was I was thinking about how much I saved, but I had this feeling of man over machine macho thing. After only 5 hours of having the refrigerator torn apart, I packed up my tools and went to bed. As I lay asleep that night dreaming of being a appliance repair technician, the refrigerator stopped running.

The next morning I'm rushing out the door because I hit the snooze one too many times. You see, I was up late the night before fixing the refrigerator, so I was a little tired and a little late, and I never checked to see if the refrigerator was still running. I didn't have time. I was late! A couple of hours later, I'm at the office bragging to my co-workforce about my appliance repair skills.

When I got house late that evening and head to the fridge to get something to eat, all I found was a box full of warm food. I was able to save a few things, but everything else went into one of those large trash bags and out to the curb.

I then did what I should have done the night before. I called an appliance repair company. Within a couple of hours, my refrigerator was running again. Now comes the scary part. The bill! The repair technician promised me he would look over the refrigerator and let me know whether to repair or to replace the unit, and I'm wondering it would be a close appointment since he's standing in my house in the wee hours of the morning. As I'm standing there feeling the cool air coming out of the refrigerator, I realize he's fixed the unit before he told me how much it would cost.

I'm about to start protesting how he didn't give me a price before he started work, when he explains to me how there was just a loose wire and he just reattached it. I wonder how that happened? I was still expecting a very large bill since I called for after hours service, but he explained to me that his company had only one service charge no issue what time it was.

As I'm sitting there counting out the money to pay the technician, I realize that the trash bag sitting out there on the curb cost me way extra than I was paying for the appliance repair technician. That was a costly lesson, but a lesson I learned from. I'm not going to try to repair my own appliances. I'm calling a professional.

The next time my refrigerator, stove or dryer breaks down, I'm calling my local appliance repair specialist to get it back in running order because I know from experience that a professional repair service offers a extra inexpensive way to repair my appliances without the hazards of my DIY repair.
