If you're after a glamorous alternative to room hire in a London hotel, then the HMS President boat hire London could be the perfect option for you. With many rooms and decks to entertain groups, there are countless uses for rental of the HMS President.

Ship history

Completed in 1918, the HMS President was an Anchusa class corvette serving in the royal navy. For over 80 years the HMS President has been permanently moored at the Victoria Embankment. It began life under the name of HMS Saxifrage which comes from the Saxifrage genus of plants that include the London Pride variety.

The HMS President was commissioned as a 'Q' ship; this meant that it was a Mystery ship. As previously mentioned, it began life as the Saxifrage, which mean the pride of London, and so came under the glower class of ship when it was built during the First World War. The ship was built in Renfrew and was meant to be used as a "Q" ship, which meant that it was disguised as a merchant ship for use during the First World War, but it was in fact part of a small convoy of protection ships.

The concept of disguising it as a merchant ship was implemented in order to entice German U boats towards it, and then destroy them with weapons that were hidden from view. This tactic was all part of the secret operations that went on during the First World War, in a bid to get one over the opponents.

Warships

Many warships of the time had hidden aspects to them in order to fool opposition forces. The whole aim of warfare is to counteract opposition moves and in turn create moves of your own that beat their thoughts. Warfare is a lot like a game of chess. It is a bit of a cliche but it is very true and can be seen throughout history. Whether you are fighting in a field with horses or in the air over neutral sea territories, the general concept of warfare remains the same.

Generally opposition forces will attempt to make surveillance moves prior to engaging in a act of war, in order to know how many the opposition numbers, in order to gauge how many troops they will need to commit to each battle.

This rule applies to people, planes, boats, horses and any other kind of war tool you can think of. They will need to work out numbers and types of vehicle or personnel to send into battle, so that they are fully prepared for what is ahead; by doing so, with ships such as the HMS President, commanders can be ahead of the game and sure of what will happen next.
