Hilarious Colbert Video Of Vampire Foreclosing On Wells Fargo

By:

Every once in a while there is a great story about a consumer who falls victim to a big company but manages to fight back and stick it to them. It usually takes a lot of patience and organization to win these battles but as you will see below anything is possible. Today we share two stories about homeowners that successfully turned the foreclosure tables on Bank of America and Wells Fargo.

Story #1: Vampire Forecloses Upon Wells Fargo
There is this story that has been on several national networks like CNN and Fox News about a homeowner in Philadelphia who fought back against Wells Fargo. To add another level of humor to it, Steven Colbert presented this hilarious take on the story:
You can watch the hilarious clip about Patrick Rodgers who successfully sued Wells Fargo, the fourth largest bank in the United States. After finding some irregularities in his mortgage statement, Rodgers mailed several letters to Wells Fargo but received no response. So, using consumer protection laws, including the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Rodgers sued Wells Fargo and won.

To make matters worse, the bank did not pay the judgment amount awarded to Rodgers by the court. Rodgers, did not give up there. He worked with his local authorities to have a Sheriff's Levy placed against Wells Fargo's downtown Philadelphia office. Within a few days Rodgers finally had a check in his had for the judgment amount.

Story #2: Bank Furniture Almost Seized
In Naples, Florida, Warren Nyerges, a homeowner, was falsely foreclosed upon by Bank of America. In fact, they never had a mortgage because they paid cash for their home in 2009. A judge ordered the bank to pay 2,500 USD in attorney fees for the couple's troubles. Yet after five months and even more phone calls, neither the bank nor its local counsel had paid.

Enough Mr. Nice Guy. Nyerges and his attorney showed up at their local Bank of America branch with the sheriff and a written order to seize the assets of the office like furniture, computers and other equipment. That got the bank's attention. Problem solved. Google it for the full story.

Lesson Learned: Know Your Rights
These two national news events are not just entertaining, feel good stories. There are real lessons that you can take away. First, know your rights. DailyDollar believes in consumer protections but they are worthless words on paper if consumers do not exercise their rights. Patrick Rodgers himself wrote the following about his case, "But by learning my rights, and continually pushing forward and pressing my advantage within the law, I got satisfaction."
