High Pressure Cleaning Its Benefits And Problems In Using It

By:

The Commercial Cleaning Services come into picture only when there is a need of cleaning an area which is very difficult to reach and which cannot be easily cleaned with a simple mop and duster. The commercial cleaning service providers apply a technology called High Pressure Cleaning. This technology is also called Hydro cleaning or water blasting. A high pressure cleaning machine uses a pressurized water stream and focuses it to the area to be cleaned. The dirt is removed by the force of water. Through this technology we can remove paints from walls and highways, artificial rubber, and sealants and membranes from walls etc.

The high pressure cleaning used by the commercial cleaning contractors is of three types; high pressure water cleaning (uses a pressure of 5000- 10000 psi), high pressure water jetting (using a pressure of 10000- 25000 psi) and ultrahigh pressure water jetting (using a pressure of more than 25000 psi)

The applications of high pressure cleaning lie in cleaning the surfaces of large buildings, removing old paint during the painting of buildings, highways, runways, parking lots and metal surfaces, and cleaning of old historical monuments etc. The other manual methods fail in these jobs because they cannot provide the force generated by water.

The equipments used in this technology are mainly different kind of Swivels which are connected to long pipes supplying water. The other accessories used in high pressure cleaning are rotor arms, duct cleaner, roof cleaner and surface cleaner etc. these accessories are attached to the swivel according to the usage. Special accessories for booms, wands and air systems are available in the market.

The main limitation of this technique is that a lot of power is required to make the water reach forcefully to the heights of the cleaning destinations. The technology costs a lot to the commercial cleaning contractors and they in turn charge more from the customers. Another limitation of this technology is that glass and other fragile surfaces cannot be cleaned because there is a risk of harm to them due to the force of water. This technology also cannot be easily used in professional carpet cleaning because customers mostly choose dry carpet cleaning. The scarcity of water in todays time is also limiting the use of this technology.

The high pressure cleaning therefore has both positive and negative points but it plays an exclusive role which cannot be taken over by the other means of professional cleaning used by the commercial cleaning contractors. The role of high pressure cleaning in maintenance of historical monuments is remarkable. Therefore inspite of its high cost and some discomforts in its usage, the high pressure cleaning is a very efficient method of cleaning and maintenance.
