Hershel Walker's Daily Workout Routine

When I was a kid I thought my Dad was the strongest man in the world. That is until I saw a Herschel Walker interview after a Washington Generals football game. He was standing in the locker room with his shirt off and he had the most gigantic shoulders I have ever seen. I honestly thought thee was something wrong with him they were so enormous. Evidently, I was not the only person that noticed.

Walker's performance on the field and physical ability garnered him an immense amount of attention and interest in his daily workouts and routines. However, many were surprised to learn that he focused on a bodyweight routine that also included a running and sprinting routine to improve his speed and endurance. Many were skeptical that he could accomplish all that he has without conducting a stringent strength training routine. That was until he told people what exactly he did on a daily basis.

In fact, Walker focused so much on bodyweight exercises that it wasn't until he reached the NFL that he started lifting free weights. Instead, he performed an intense bodyweight workout EVERY DAY since high school (as well as sprinting)! In College and the NFL, he was known by most players as being the best conditioned athlete.

As a pudgy child Walker recalls losing many foot races against his sister. He was never considered to have much a future in High School sports let alone becoming one of the most gifted football players the sport has ever seen, Bo Jackson may have him beat. One day he just decided to do whatever he could to change his place in life.

So what exactly was the routine he followed? Without further ado, here is Walker's daily workout regiment.

1. Various push-ups for roughly 2,000 reps

2.Sit Ups 3,000 reps

3.Pull Ups 1,500 reps

Dips (1,000 reps)

5.Squats 1,000 reps

To improve his speed he conducted different running drills.

That is it. That is pretty simple and straight and to the point, huh?

At age 47 it is pretty impressive that he is still doing this workout. If that was nto impressive enough, Walker just had his professional MMA debut, won by straight up backyards beatdown. This is one person that may have never seen his prime. He continues to live it.
