Here Is Why I Say 'thank You Becky Higgins'

Have you ever heard of scrapbooking? No! Well actually I hadn't either, until last year when I stumbled across Becky Higgins's Project Life, while I was browsing on Amazon.

To put it simply, scrapbooking is a way of preserving your history in the form of a personal scrapbook. These scrapbook albums are filled with all the little things that remind you of a day in a year, or in your life.

They are often accompanied by journals or diaries, explaining the events pictured and photographs, ticket stubs, scraps of fabric or pressed flowers.

Scrapbooking is now very popular hobby in the United States and South Africa. I first became interested when I was studying our family tree and I remember thinking 'wouldn't it be wonderful if I had something like this from my grandmother or great-grandmother'.

I found out that back in the 15th century, ladies would keep what they called 'commonplace books'. It was their way to help remember such things as recipes, poems, letters or trips etc.

The idea continued to some extent through the years, until the advent of photograph albums, autograph books and diaries.

Traditional scrapbooks were often flimsy and meant only for short-term use, whereas those used in modern scrapbooking usually consist of creatively designed pages, inserted into sheet protectors and collected into 3-ring binders.

In some areas this has become a social hobby, similar to quilting, where 'scrap-bookers,' get together, to work in each other's homes, sharing tips and ideas and enjoying the social setting.

The album is the most important part of a scrap booker's kit. Sometimes they are permanently bound like any book, but more often nowadays, they allow for the insertion of pages. Generally A4 size binders are used, but smaller albums are also becoming popular.

Some so-called 'embellishments', are used to decorate scrapbook pages, for example: stickers, lace ribbon, stamps, beads or even sequins. Just let your ideas flow!

Storage is important, as pollutants and airborne chemicals, temperature and humidity can affect the pages.

Becky Higgins's Project Life is an example of a complete kit, ideal to make a 'year in the life' album, as it comes with just about everything you could possibly need.

I found it is a high quality, long-lasting kit. You can add a photo a day, or photos for each event. You can do it your way but with creative help.

The components are excellent, with bright and cheerful colors. Becky's suggestions and ideas are very motivating and this is so simple, anyone can do it. Everything you need is right in the kit and at what most people would think is a reasonable price.

In fact when it came, I opened it up, looked through everything, then tried to price it as individual items; this showed me just what good value the kit is

A friend of mine is a working mum, with an infant and toddler, and doesn't have much time to do traditional scrapbooking. The 'Project Life' makes it doable and of course with the children, priceless in years to come.

I really love this kit for daily practice, the design is neutral enough to work well with everything and the fold-out double-sided journaling cards are excellent.

Well done Becky another amazing product.
