Now when it comes to someone applying to the physician assistant school of their choice it can be a difficult and very long process. Im am about to tell you everything you need to do, what you should expect, and Im going to try and tell you everything you need to know so that the process isnt as difficult for you as it was for me. Make sure that youre sure you want to become a physician assistant because even though this is a phenomenal health care career to venture into, it still requires a lot from a person on a personal level.

What I did was I contacted a physician assistant to find out what its like to be one, and I also did some shadowing where I followed a physician assistant as they worked. Now before you apply to a PA school, you need to do your due diligence and research what physician assistant programs are out there and which one catch your interest. Look around locally for schools in your area and if they have a PA program then see if they are good.

You can find a big list of schools that have physician assistant programs at the online website of the physician assistant education association. Now at their website there are some aspects of the search where you have to pay but searching for PA schools by state on the website is free. You should make a call to every school that you have a interest in attending and you need to see if they can send you whatever information they think you should have about their physician assistant program.

You can get on the schools website and soak up all the information you need to know about their PA program. Some physician assistant programs focus heavily on teaching students how to perform primary health care services while others are going to show them how to become PAs who focus more on specialties like geriatrics, dermatology or emergency.

The next thing you need to do is make sure that you take the required prerequisite courses because since you have the information you need from which physician assistant schools you want to apply, you need to take the classes that they require you to take for admission. Most physician assistant schools require their students to at least have an associates degree before apply to their program, but nowadays having a bachelors degree is what is now required to get into a physician assistant program.
