The human foot is really an amazing thing. Did you know it has more than a hundred tendons, muscles, twenty-six bones and oh yes, ligaments too. So why don't we all spend more time taking care of our feet?

So is caring for sore feet a big deal? Yes, actually it is. In fact, many experts do suggest that when you visit your health care professional, you need to remove your socks so they can check your feet along with the rest of you.

A little known fact is that when your have pain in your feet, this can set off pain in other places of your body like your back. The pain can travel into your legs and on up to your hips. Pain in your feet can even be a sign of a disease.

Proper care of your sore feet not only means you will be more comfortable, but you will prevent more serious problems down the road. Older individuals will over time suffer from aching and burning feet just because of their advancing years.

Younger individuals who spend their day on their feet need to take good care of them. Caring for sore feet is a pretty simple process but many people neglect their foot care needs. Some of this is due to not understanding the necessity to take proper care of their feet and some of this is probably because of the fast paced, hectic lives most people lead today.

There are a lot of articles written and dedicated to the care of feet and most of the ideas are similar. All of them suggest four basic but important things to do for your feet. Here are the four suggestions for proper foot care.

One is of course to keep your feet very clean. When you wash your feet use warm water and something that will serve to scrub them gently like a wash cloth. When you dry your feet be sure to dry in between each toe carefully. If you don't you are subject to getting a very unpleasant condition called 'athlete's foot'.

The second is to elevate your feet letting the blood flow away from your feet and ankles to relieve any stress caused from excessive standing and walking during the day. The third is to soak your feet in a warm foot bath tub with baths salts added. They say Epson Salts will actually dry out your skin so bath salts or oils might be better.

And finally, after all this is done, you should use a non-greasy spray that is made of natural ingredients. This should be done periodically during the day. The best product to use is one that is a blend of peppermint oil, menthol oil and camphor oil that is quick to dry.
