Helicopter Delivery Services For Emergency Courier Situations

By:

Helicopters are used in the courier industry more than many people realize. In fact, most San Francisco delivery services would be able to tell you how to get something moved quickly by helicopter even if they didn't use helicopters regularly in their own business. The fact of the matter is that the helicopter is now an important part of the delivery industry, so it pays to know how it fits into the overall network of deliveries that takes place across this country every day.

Helicopters are useful for a number of delivery situations. All large cities will have helicopters that are used partly in the delivery industry, although many helicopter companies and pilots will use their vehicles for more than one purpose. Normally, in the delivery industry helicopters are used in two primary types of deliveries. The first is when it is going to take too long to make the delivery any other way. The second is when it is going to be too difficult to get the delivery to that location with other modes of transport.

The speed of helicopters is not like that of a commercial jet. However, they are still much, much faster than any method of ground transport. In addition to their increased speed, they have no traffic, no stop lights, and no wavering routes to take all of which slow down regular ground delivery. Helicopters also don't have the great range of airplanes though. Ideally, they are best suited towards mid-range deliveries that need to be done in a hurry.

Helicopters are utilized by businesses that need quick deliveries moved between nearby cities, or by medical professionals that need supplies brought in quickly. For instance, a helicopter might be used to transport one transplant organ from one hospital to another. This is something that happens more often than many people realize. Helicopters are also used for transporting patients, which is why major hospitals often have a place for helicopters to land on the grounds.

Helicopters are also used to make deliveries to hard to reach locations. This can include off shore drilling rigs, or mountain and desert camps. The maneuverability of the helicopter as well as its ability to land in minimal space makes it much more flexible than fixed wing aircraft for reaching many of these types of destinations. Companies will often use them to move supplies in to science stations or camps that would have to wait much longer for supplies otherwise.
