Heidi Montags Surgeon Dies In Car Crash Because Of Texting

By:

Fatal car accident statistics point to more and more people dying every year because of text messaging. Dr. Frank Ryan was one of the most recent. We know him as the plastic surgeon for the Hills reality show star Heidi Montag. He apparently drove off a cliff near his Malibu home at the same time he was sending out a tweet from his phone.

Texting while driving makes up a portion of the distracted driving problem. Fatal car accident statistics are fairly conclusive: over 6,000 people die a year because of distracted driving. Distracted driving deaths are all too often unnecessary. This includes talking on the phone, reading a book, or not paying attention to the road. Texting presents a unique problem, though, because of how widespread it has become.

What should we do to avoid distracted driving deaths?

1. Stop using the phone while driving! The mobile phone is a major cause of distracted driving accidents. If you must answer the phone, then you should be able to pull over to the side of the road to take the call.

2. Make mp3 playlists. You don't have to scroll through your music library every few minutes because you don't like a song. Just let whoever is in the car with you pick the music, or even simply make a playlist before you go.

3. Dont pretend like youre actually watching the road. We have all seen it (or done it ourselves) where somebody puts their phone on the top of the steering wheel while they are texting so they can watch the road better. It doesnt work. Nobody thinks youre a better driver for it.

The problem with distracted driving is that the person who causes the accident might not necessarily be the one who gets hurt. If you or someone you know is hurt in a car accident, be sure to consider hiring a car accident lawyer to help you pay medical bills. Insurance companies will try their hardest to hold out but an injury lawyer can be there to fight the insurance companies for you.

What makes the best injury lawyer? Before all else, you need to make sure that they provide free information about what you should know before an accident so that you know what to do afterwards. Above all, dont let the trauma of an accident get in the way of your just compensation.
