Heel Pain Treatments

By:

One of the most excruciating and debilitating pains that one can experience is heel pain. Heel pain can actually interfere with your activities of daily living limiting the things that you want or need to do. In fact, many people often avoid certain activities such as exercise because of the pain and end up gaining weight and becoming depressed as a result. Unfortunately, most people don't know how to treat their heel pain and end up suffering needlessly because of it.

Over time, the muscle and tendon complex in the calf that form the Achilles tendon begins to shrink due to age and a lack of stretching, leading to pain in the bottom and back of the heel. The plantar fascia—a strong ligament extending from the heel bone to the toes—becomes tight due to the lack of elasticity when the foot flattens and begins to pull or tear away from the heel. The stretching and pulling of the plantar fascia over time can cause swelling and pain and can stimulate the heel bone to produce a bone spur.

Many patients begin treating plantar fasciitis with rest, ice, stretching exercises and anti-inflammatory medicine. In many cases when the first level of treatment fails, it is necessary to begin using more aggressive therapies in which the new laser technology has proven to be successful. The new K-Laser treatment eliminates pain in a few short treatments making surgery for plantar fasciitis patients extremely rare.

The Class IV K- laser can penetrate deep into the soft tissues, and is a completely non-invasive and painless procedure to jumpstart the body's own healing response. The laser draws in water, oxygen, nutrients, and new blood flow to the affected area to begin the process of repairing the damaged tissue. Patients tend to find total relieft in six to eight KLaser therapy treatments, with each treatment lasting four to five minutes. Treatments are usually completed two to three times a week.

FDA cleared, laser therapy is now being used by some professional sports teams to help athletes heal a variety of muscular and joint injuries. The laser also provides relief for: Tendinopathies, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Myofascial Trigger Points, Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow), Ligament Sprains, Muscle Strains, Repetitive Stress Injuries, Chondromalacia Patellae, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Shoulder, Back & Knee Pain, Herpes Zoster (Shingles), Post-Traumatic Injury, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Fibromyalgia, Diabetic Neuropathy, Venous Ulcers, Diabetic Foot Ulcers, Burns, Deep Edema / Congestion, Sports Injuries, Auto & Work Related Injuries.

Podiatrist have seen that laser therapy treatment has proven to be a effective treatment option for patients who have persistent heel pain. If you have had long standing heel pain or have been told that you will require surgery to relieve your symptoms, the K-Laser is a very effective alternative to relieve the symptoms of heel pain and avoid surgery.
