Healthy Living Roadmap For Online Entrepreneurs Part Iii Move Around A Little

By:

On healthy living for online entrepreneurs, we agreed that there are many advantages to having an online business, especially the fact that most online business owners work from home. Then we discussed how to avoid the overeating trap when you are working do close to your home refrigerator. Our main aim is towards the lack of exercise that can accompany an online job.

Workers and Exercise
Workers everywhere generally agree that lack of exercise has a major negative impact on their health. In fact, when Life care Inc. surveyed employees in 1500 client companies, 24% said that lack of exercise was the leading factor in hurting their health. (Other factors were family stress, financial stress, job stress). When asked why they were not addressing the issue, 38% said that they did not know how and 23% said that they did not have time.

The problem with working online
Well, the good news is that as an online entrepreneur, you have probably removed a good deal of the work stress and hopefully you have been successful enough to remove some of the financial stress as well. The negative side of the equation is, however, that often business owners work even longer hours than hourly or salaried employees, leaving even less time to exercise. Plus, if you work from home as so many online entrepreneurs do, you have even eliminated the walk to the car, walk to the office from the parking lot, walk through the office to get to the coffee, copier or bathroom and spin around the building at lunch with your colleagues.

Effects of inactivity
Does this picture sound like you? If so, you need to take yourself in hand right away. After all, you want to live a good, long life enjoying the benefits of your online business. In case you have not heard:

Sitting at a computer can cause pooling of blood in your legs and feet and sluggish blood movement in general. This condition can lead to devastating blood clots.

Lack of exercise is a major contributor to overweight. Overweight people are more prone to diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

Absence of exercise can cause bones to weaken.
Okay, you are probably convinced that you should be doing something about exercise. Now what?

How much is enough?
The good news is, any exercise is better than no exercise. And, the more you do, the better off you are (up to a reasonable limit). Expert guidelines suggest that you exercise thirty minutes at a time, five days a week. The newest research says that you can break those thirty minute times into ten minute exercise periods if that is better for you.

What kind of exercise should I do?
Experts suggest that you combine aerobic exercise (exercise that gets your heart beating faster) with strength building exercises (exercise that builds muscle which consumes more energy and keeps you leaner).

How does exercise fit into my day?
Everyones lifestyle and feelings about exercise are different so there is no one right answer. Here are some ideas to think about.

Get up thirty minutes earlier to exercise. For those people who are night owls and hate morning, this suggestion is simply a non starter. But, if you like morning, this idea may work. Exercise, take your morning shower and you have gotten a great start on the day. Even if you are a morning hater, think about this: some folks say that they are so dazed and half asleep when they get up that they can get through their exercises without even noticing it is less painful because they are just not fully conscious yet.

Take small breaks during the day to clear your head. Use that time to walk around the house or run up and down the stairs. Take the dog for a walk. Everything counts.

Keep weights at your desk and do upper body exercises as you are watching a video or reading email.

If you turn on the TV to take a break and refresh your mind, do some exercises while you are watching. In fact, give yourself permission to watch a 30 minute sitcom or a segment of the news during the day as long as you are riding your exercise bike or working out on your treadmill.

Make exercise fun! Play tag with your kids. Pull together a pickup soccer game with folks in the neighborhood. Schedule a daily walk with others.

Join an exercise class. It will get you out of your office and give you some camaraderie as well.

Set exercise goals for yourself. Entrepreneurs are very goal oriented. Sneak in an exercise goal right there alongside your goals for bounce rate and conversion rate.

Remember, you do not have to train to be an Olympic athlete. You just need to get your muscles moving and your heart beating a little faster; your body will take care of the rest.
