Head Lice Treatment And Why It's Important

By:

You need to start treatment immediately if you discover lice on yourself or anyone in your family. The treatment process will involve a close inspection of anyone you think may have caught the lice, as well as everyone else who has been in close contact. Lice can move from person to person very quickly, and the adult lice may remain invisible while they are moving from one host to another.

Body lice and head lice are very contagious, so you need to gather life information as quickly as you can and take steps to treat your infestation. To treat lice, you should first wash all of your bedding thoroughly in hot, sudsy water. This includes sheets, pillowcases and blankets. In addition, you should wash or dry clean stuffed animals, throw pillows, and other bed accessories. Hair accessories such as brushes, combs or barrettes should be disinfected with rubbing alcohol or ammonia.

When you are doing this, everybody who has lice should be given a topical shampoo or cream with which to treat their hair or body. Some people see a doctor, although over the counter remedies are available at most drugstores. Although head lice treatment can be tiring, it is fairly simple. After using the shampoo, wait a day or two before you wash your hair again. Follow the directions on the packaging very carefully and every day, inspect the heads of those infested to make sure the lice are disappearing.

It may take a while to get rid of lice completely. Body lice and head lice affect many people all over the world and you shouldn't feel bad if they seem to have singled you out! It is common among young children, especially those in school who may be sharing hats/pillows/combs, to come home with lice.

Wash everything, vacuum the carpets, disinfect materials that may carry the eggs. If the lice still doesn't go away within a few weeks, you should again start over with your head lice treatment. Take an appointment to see a doctor. Your doctor may be able to prescribe a stronger medicine to kill the remaining lice eggs.

If you or a family member contracts lice, there is no need for embarrassment. Lice infestation is not necessarily due to unclean conditions. Anyone, even under sanitary conditions, can contract lice. To help prevent lice you should avoid sharing bedding, hair brushes, combs and accessories.
