Head Lice Treatment: Are Your Ready For The Battle?

In this article, we are discussing about head lice only. Hair lice infest our hair on the scalp and neck only. These creatures should not be confused with other species of lice which infest other body parts namely, body lice and pubic lice.

It is normally assumed that lice can move from one person's to anothers by hopping if those two people are in close enough contact. Scientific research has concluded that this is not true. Lice do not have wings and cannot fly.

Lice can be an irritating nuisance to us. Head lice cause real itching in our scalp since they pierce our scalp with their strong teeth and suck the blood. This may lead to bacterial infection as well as other complications. Head lice treatment must be done to cure the irritations and infections caused by these lice.

The first part of head lice treatment is using a special lice removal shampoo for regular hair washing. Second, resist the urge to scratch the scalp. A lice removal comb has special teeth which will remove the lice and curb itching. These steps are critical to removing the lice.

In the event that a "frontline attack" doesn't work for head lice treatment, it is time to bring in the "special forces" -- namely, a dermatologist. Many specific medications are available for lice removal, and a dermatologist will study a person's condition to determine which treatment will work best.

A word of caution: we must avoid these medicines and lice shampoo from getting into eyes. In case, it happens make sure that you wash the eyes thoroughly. In case, the eyes get red or if there is swelling, you must see a doctor immediately.
