Head Lice, Always To Keep Distance From.

By:

A lot of us have witnessed the irritant itch resulting grom headlice. These small parasites that resemble tiny ants infest human hair. You should note the term headlice refers to the lice which infects the neck and the scalp hairs only. Other species of lice live instead on human hosts including body lice (which infest human skin) and pubic lice (which infest pubic hair)

Although very small, and generally bronze to gray-white in color, lice can be observed with the human eye if one looks closely. A common misconception is that these tiny creatures can somehow jump from one person to another. However, lice do not even have hind legs to enable them to jump or hop, nor do they have wings to fly. It can be assured then, that lice cannot "jump" from one person to another.

These creatures like human blood, which they obtain by making a small incision in a human scalp and using their big front legs, they grab hair follicles to dig their teeth into the scalp. It results in the infamous irritant itch. Head lice, on the other hand, are not as harmful to humans except for an annoying irritation that can cause us to itch a lot. There also, the possibility of microbial infection due to excessive scalp itch and bleeding is quite high.

How do headlice spread, is a question that has baffled many researchers for long. Most researchers are of the opinion that if one's hair comes into direct physical contact with another man's/woman's hair which has lice, the chances of getting these lice is significantly higher. Sharing personal use articles which come into physical contact with hair such as towels, combs, helmets, pillows etc. can also help in the spread of headlice.

There are many treatments for the annoying itchiness and other problems these parasites cause people. Lice shampoo, aromatherapy, lice combs, and lice removal oils are helpful, and so are medications such as malathion, lindane, permethrin, pyethrins, and others.

Good personal hygiene includes hair-care and hair requires protection from infection and infestation arising from parasites such as lice. "Active" or "inert" ingredients can do the Lice removal. In active method, ingredients target the lice and destroy or kill them whereas in inert method, ingredients are solvents that are used to carry the active ingredients. The solvents aggravate the toxic power of the active ingredients. The choice of treatment varies from individual to individual depending on several factors and it is advisable to use a natural remedy for destroying the lice.
