By:

The nation of Sri Lanka has long attracted adventurous Brits searching for a holiday spot which combines amazing weather with rich history and varied culture.
In Sri Lanka, visitors can spend days wandering through the beautiful tropical forests, staring in awe at the many impressive temples in the country and sampling some of the world's tastiest and freshest food.
On a tailormade luxury holiday to Sri Lanka, Brits can take their pick of all the best sights to see and places to visit - but a definite must-see for any traveller is the hilltop city of Kandy.
Perched high up in the hills of Sri Lanka, the city of Kandy is a spectacular region filled to the brim with interesting temples and beautiful sights. It is also packed with culture, being the last Royal Capital of the nation.
All around the city are tea plantations and visitors should certainly take time out of their tailor-made holiday in Sri Lanka to sample a pot of local brew, which is said to be some of the best tasting tea in the world.
A cup of tea could certainly be in order for those brave enough to sample some traditional Sri Lankan fare - this nation is famous for its super hot curries, packed with spices and fiery flavours.
Visitors to Kandy should definitely head to the Temple of Tooth, which is said to hold a tooth which was taken from the mouth of Buddha. In July or August each year, a massive carnival is held in Kandy to celebrate this temple - and with dancers, singers, drummers and around 30 Sri Lankan elephants all in convoy, it is certainly an interesting show.
Hindu gods and goddesses are also honoured in the city's temples, with shrines to Natha, Vishnu and Patthini dotted around Kandy.
After seeing all the city has to offer, travellers could head a few short kilometres out of the centre to the Royal Botanical Gardens to get a glimpse into the amazingly rich and diverse wildlife which the country has to offer.
