Having A Hedge Against The Rare And Unknown

By:

Seems the more we learn about the human body, the more we discover how little we really know. Everyone has heard of the common diseases and illnesses that ravage the body, but in another realm of unknowns, we suddenly are coming upon a whole new breed of rare and unheard of diseases and illnesses that exist. It is from these unknowns that a rekindled undying human spirit is emerging.

There are those who suffer from acromegaly and those who have dwarfism. There are those individuals who are suffering from illnesses that go well beyond the scope of anything that modern medicine can even comprehend. Issues like the 17 year old baby who is not aging, those kids who are allergic to common elements like sun and water, and those who have issues of warts and other growths that are growing out of control. While many things may be explainable by modern medicine there are still so many more that are not.

In a perfect world we would be able to predict and prepare for the unexpected, because it would be expected. If you are planning on increasing the family through children, you should always plan on things that might go wrong. We all wish and hope for healthy kids, that will become healthy adults, but some are not that fortunate. Many new born health issues cannot be anticipated and no way of preparing, except with health insurance coverage that will leave you less vulnerable in the event there are issues that require extensive treatments or surgeries.

It would be wonderful to think that every person could get the treatment that they need without having to pay for it; however, that is not the case. And those who are born in foreign countries don't have near the access to care that those in the United States do. Ultimately if you have a rare illness you will have access to the best care available if you live in the U.S. but if you don't have health insurance coverage it may still not be accessible to you.

To think that there are people living in this country and who still can't afford the care they need is a sad statement. Anyone who can be helped by modern medicine should be regardless of their ability to pay or their health insurance coverage. Being healthy should be a right and not a privilege of the wealthy. Many would say this an idealistic way of thinking but the reality is that if you have the ability to help others how could you deny them the care they need.
