Have You Weighed Lately? Do Your Scales Show You Are Fat?

By:

The weight showing on your scale does not tell you if you are fat. It only shows your weight. Nowadays, health experts declare body fat to be more meaningful than your weight. Magazines have article after article on body fat. Belly fat has been associated with heart disease. Do you have fat around your middle? Are you headed toward heart disease? Should you find a fat loss diet or diet on losing belly fat right now?

Statistics tell us if a man has more than 15% body fat, then he is too fat. If a woman has more than 20% body fat so does she. A small amount of fat is necessary in a person's body, but excess fat leads to diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, clogged arteries, and heart disease.

Remember in the days of the gladiator, only the strong survived! That is still true today.

There are scales which measure your BMI, or body mass index. This tells you how much body fat you have. This is an important number. If you are overweight, do not just focus on losing weight. You need to find out your BMI and work on fat loss as well!

Here is how the scenario works: Your body uses calories for energy. Each 3,500 calories unused by your body, is stored as one pound of fat. You would think your body would expel excess calories, but the law of physics states energy is transformed but never destroyed. Thus, your body transforms these excess calories into fat. Take a guess where the fat is stored!

Lo and behold, you are fat before you know it!

If you plan to lose weight, you might like to know that your body must use 3,500 calories for you to lose one pound!

What can you do to win the war against fat? You can exercise, but it will take lots of exercising to burn 3,500 calories and lose one pound. Exercise is boring. It is hard physical work and you must do it at least four times per week. That is a long commitment!

Most people do not see the weight falling off with exercise so they give up! It is too slow! What you may fail to understand is the battle of the bulge is an extremely slow process. It requires a total commitment to both exercise and a fat loss diet plan! One without the other is futile.

You can find a fat loss diet and start following that plan. Eat the right foods and there are foods that help you burn fat faster. In addition, start exercising and you will begin to see the weight falling off!

Losing weight is a two part plan. One part focuses on the foods you eat and the other part focuses on increasing your body activity.

I have heard people moan and groan about having to exercise. Why do you think we got fat in the first place? We quit doing things physically. We drive everywhere. We sit and watch television night after night. We get no physical activity. We don't have any fields to plow, or crops to grow, or seeds to plant. We even ride when we mow our lawn!

The only physical activity anyone does at my house is pull the plastic trash bags out of the trash cans in the kitchen and bathrooms, carry them outside, dump them in the big trash cans outside, push the big outside trash cans out to the curb so the garbage trucks can pick them up on trash day, and then the empty trash cans have to be returned to their proper place so we can do it again next trash day! Sound familiar?

By the way, some foods that speed up your metabolism and help you have fat loss are tea, especially green tea, hot spicy peppers like jalapeno peppers, and water. Drink lots of water. Your body stores water just like it does food when you do not drink enough water.

So get that fat loss diet plan and decide what kind of exercise you will do. You can do fun things like buy a Hula Hoop and use it. Remember how much fun it was when you were a kid? Start out with ten minutes per day. You do not even have to do the whole ten minutes all at once. Just keep a running total per day. What does it matter if the neighbors see you outside doing the Hula Hoop and think you are going through your second childhood?

Have fun with the exercise! Get off that couch! Begin right now!
