Have You Been Looking For An Alternative To Craigslist?

By:

Scammers and spammers are all over Craigslist and it"s been this way for the better part of the last decade. No matter what kind of measure Craigslist takes, it"s obvious that they can"t keep up with all of the trash that continues to infiltrate their website. When I use the biggest free online classifieds website online, it"s unfortunate to know that I expect to have to sift through the garbage to get to the real posts. For a business that big, and with revenues in the hundreds of millions, I would think that they take care of this problem no matter the cost. Their customer is us users who both generate the content and use it at the same time, very unique to the internet world. Someone needs to come up with a way to better the experience as soon as possible.
I do appreciate the subtle changes that Craigslist has made in the past to slowly deter spammers from using their website, but it"s clear that none of it has helped. Of course we all know of their flagging system which I hope you do use, but it"s clear that flagging can only do so much. We can flag all day, but the most it would do to a spammer is suspend his account for a couple days. We then move on to the phone verified accounts requirement. Most people, including Craigslist thought that this was a brilliant idea and the answer to their problems with spammers. It worked for a short amount of time, only to see it fail when spammers and scammers began to purchase pre-paid cell phones to bypass the unique phone number requirement. Pre-paid cell phones with their own unique numbers can easily be purchased at your local Walmart or other store for less than $10. Ten dollars for a cell phone just to create a new Craigslist account may sound a little expensive for the majority of us users, but to spammers and scammer who make a pretty penny abusing the Craigslist system, $10 is just a drop in the bucket. To make matters worse for phone verified accounts, companies from all over the world started popping up selling phone verified Craigslist accounts.
These companies offer to sell individuals phone verified accounts, each with a unique IP address for the ability to post as much as you"d like. This gives scammers the luxury of not having to worry about getting their account suspended, because they could just buy another one. These phone verified Craigslist accounts are also fairly cheap, running around $5 each, a whole lot less if you purchase them in bulk, which I"m sure all the scammers and spammers do. Unfortunately these companies are doing the biggest disservice to the community that uses Craigslist by enabling spammers to post as much garbage they can without getting suspended. The only thing that this makes me think about is finding a competitor that can offer us the same value that Craigslist does.
There are a ton of Craigslist competitors saturating the market due to the success that Craigslist has seen. Not only for that reason, but because they"re in the same boat as us, they hate all the garbage being posted on Craigslist. So many people try to put up a new classifieds website in hopes of taking on Craigslist, only to allow the same spammer garbage on their sites that they hate seeing on Craigslist. They allow this garbage in the beginning to get a little content on their website, but they realize that these posts bring them more users and in turn, money. All this does is create many more free online classifieds, but they are all the same. So when people look for an alternative to Craigslist, they see that all these competitors are a lot smaller than Craigslist, but carry the same amount of garbage as Craigslist does, the majority of people are going to revert back to Craigslist because of the authority of it. One day there will be a website offering a free online classifieds website tied into a social community to add a dimension of social reputation. This website will also ban IP"s in a heartbeat if they feel that a certain individual is abusing the system. That day is today; http://www.findiit.org.

About the Author:
There are thousands of searches per month for a craigslist alternate and we can never seem to find one. Although there are plenty of other websites like craigslist, none of them can come close to matching up with the authority of craigslist, until now. http://www.findiit.org has quickly become the talk of the town when it comes to up and coming free online classifieds websites.
