Have More Of What You Want

By:

Do you ever get tired of complaining about the same things over and over? You know you want to improve your life, but you just can't seem to get the inspiration to make the necessary changes or the motivation to be consistent. It's just like my father always says when someone's complaining, "Less talk, more action!"

It's time we learned the art of getting things done - from insignificant, daily activities, to the larger-than-life dreams and aspirations we hold. When you can figure out how to inspire action in your life, you will get so much done, you'll wonder how you survived before.

You will have what you want because you're making it happen; you are being proactive instead of waiting for something to happen to you. As a side note: It's unfortunate to see so many women make changes only when they have waited long enough to where they are forced to change.

Why not start now and create the freedom you want? Think of something you've been wanting to accomplish, but can't seem to get around to doing. What have you been procrastinating at? Okay, now read on and apply the following steps to this particular goal:

Step 1: Identify the things that are holding you back. Usually we procrastinate because we believe that "thing" will cause us pain. Let's say you want to get in good shape and feel healthy. Most likely, you're putting it off because you believe it will cause you some type of pain.

Take the time right now and identify the pain your goal may be causing you. Most of the time you're afraid of something. You may fear failure, or you may think it will be too much work. Write down your goal and what you think is hindering you from accomplishing it.

Step 2: Realize that NOT moving toward your goal will cause you serious, long-term pain. I was explaining to one of my clients this week that the best way to move forward through fear is to realize what it will cost you if you DON'T do something. Think about your goal, the thing you really want for you life. Now imagine the very real consequences you will experience if you never do it (or if you keep putting it off). Regret is a much more serious emotion than temporarily feeling uncomfortable.

Take the time and identify what it will cost you if you don't move toward your goal now.

Step 3: Make a list of what you can do NOW to make progress towards your goal. There is always a book, program, person, or some type of materials that can help you reach your goal. Think of what (or who) it is you need right now to really get it done.

Combining these three steps will really move you into being proactive, rather than reactive. Successful women do not wait for things to happen - they MAKE them happen!

Yes, you will make some mistakes, but you will feel stronger, more confident and satisfied as you make progress toward your goal. Do your best and you will always reap the rewards from your efforts!
