As anyone that loves gadgets will testify, the more amazing the technology behind the gadget is, the more we want to get our hands on it. By its very definition, a gadget is an ingenious device, and it usually offers some useful function, that quite often we don't realise we want or need. On your behalf, we present some of the most desirable gadgetry available today and unveil the reason we think you will want them too.

There has recently been a major technological breakthrough in printing, and there is now an inkless photo printer on the market. The Polaroid PoGo Digital Instant Mobile Photo Printer uses something they have marketed as Zink paper to product instant inkless photos. The device can be used with just about any mobile phone, is totally wireless and is so small and light that it really is portable.

The Zink paper is composed of embedded dye crystals which require heat to become activated, through some impressively gadety workings, the PoGo sends a signal which causes certain areas to respond to a heat signal, producing a high quality 'inkless' print in under a minute. It is impossible to say why everyone must have this gadget exactly, but it is certain that it ticks enough boxes to be a must have.

One gadget that is hot in the press at the moment is a folding plug. Although this device doesn't use sophisticated technology to produce a function that we could probably do without, it does demonstrate ingenious thinking. UK plugs are probably the largest in the world, and as gadgets get smaller, the plugs we use to power a variety of devices are likely to cause damage in transit.

The folding plug relocates the fuse in a D shaped handle, has a plug body that folds back and two of the pins swivel from horizontal to vertical. This produces a flat and streamline plug that is less than 1cm thick. This demonstrates great innovative talents, and the designer has surely thought well and truly outside the box. Truly remarkable device for lugging a laptop around.

Finally, Energizer has come up with ultimate gadget to power even more gadgets. Energi To Go is a portable charger that claims to be able to provide power for absolutely any gadget. Through a collection of adaptors, or tips, Energizer have every type of charger socket covered, and are prepared to make free tips for any device that they have accidently missed out. It is not stated however how users are meant to power the Energi To Go, with another charger one presumes. Sounds like this could be a quasi quantum philosophical debate in the making!
