Hats And Their Place In Mens Fashion

By:

One accessory that a lot of men shrug off as they view it as too garish is the hat or cap. They are not aware that they'll add the extra appeal that their attire need by just donning the right hat. Whether the outfit is casual or elegant a well fitting hat can go a long way.

Casual Hats - Kangol, Cuffley, Ascot Caps and Bucket Hats

While popular brands of the ascot or flat caps are specially fine, such as Kangol or Bailey's, other quality brands that do not bear these designer labels are just as acceptable if they're appropriately fitted and made out of quality materials for instance wool, felt or suede.

The ascot cap is incorrectly called a Kangol cap mainly because of how people make the connection. This type of hat is the ideal complement to casual outfits or to obtain a more laid back or relaxed image. This specific style has always been a choice of fashion forward young and older men. It is especially accepted among men in the arts like writers, artists and musicians.

For defense against the dangerous effects of the sun bucket hats are the ideal choice. Sadly, as they are not very becoming these types of hats aren't recommended for anything else.

Traditional and Regional Hats - Top Hat, Cowboy Hat, and the Fedora

The top hat is still a selection for a few select men on formal occasions, worn with a tuxedo for special situations such as a ball, gala, wedding, or perhaps even prom by a few daring young gents. Outside of these situations, this particular style has lost a great deal of popularity and can't be advised for wear in general, though men who prefer to use one will cause little offense in doing so.

Similar to the top hat, the cowboy hat has long been connected with American culture. It plays a tremendous role in history and even at present is a must have for many men especially in places like Texas and Alberta, Canada. In other parts men prefer to avoid them since they do not see them as a style that they'll want to display outside of a poker room or country music bar.

One traditional cap, however, which has maintained a great deal of respect and style through the years is the fedora. After struggling with a brief period of unpopularity during the 1970's and onward, the most recent decade has been very kind to the fedora hat, currently used by youth, young men, and mature gents at the same time.

In earlier times the fedora could only be purchased in monochrome tones but today they are now obtainable in plaids and pinstripes. Grey or bright white stripes over a black base is the most typical choice.

Whatever your reason for selecting to wear a hat, their ever increasing popularity will put you right in with the fashion forward thinkers. Owning several hats to complement various aspects of your wardrobe will add a sense of style to your all round appearance and you will receive countless compliments from others who love your daring spirit.
